Linear
Recumbents (Made in USA) Introduces the NEW SWB USS
Recumbent Bike to replace the Iowa built "Sonic" SWB
Then:
Linear
(Iowa) made the Sonic SWB USS recumbent bike until 2001
when Linear (Iowa) closed down. Most riders found the
Iowa built Sonic difficult to ride due to its vertical
head angle. The Iowa built Sonic is permanently out of
production.

Now:
In late 2002 The Bicycle Man bought the remaining assets
of Linear Mfg Inc
and moved Linear recumbent manufacturing operations to
Western NY
where Linear recumbent bikes are Alive and Well Today!
The NEW Short Wheel Base (SWB) Under Seat
Steering (USS) Recumbent Bicycle from Linear Recumbents in Western New

Linear
Recumbent Bikes in Western New York is working on a
NEW SWB USS Recumbent Bicycle to replace the old Linear
Sonic.

The NEW Linear Dual 20" SWB USS prototype, available in
the fall?
The first
new Linear SWB USS Recumbent Bike in a decade may be on
the market in the fall of 2007. Pictured is the 2nd
prototype of the new dual 20” wheel bike. It was well
received by the crowd at the 2006 'bentride. Most riders
found it maneuverable and very easy to ride. It weighs
30 1/2 lb, not bad for a prototype, and its over all
length is about 65 inches. The production model will
weigh under 30 lb. I've been riding the prototypes for
over 6 months and I like it a lot. An initial run of the
2.0 version with dual V brakes and 24 speeds may be
available sometime in the summer of 2007. The dual 20"
SWB Linear will come with USS standard but OSS will
likely be an extra cost option. The 2.0 is planned to
retail for under $1600 with USS in a natural aluminum
finish.
The final 3.0 version will have 27 speeds; V or disk
brakes in front and a rear disk brake. It will retail
for around $2000, probably later in 2007. It will
probably be available in a folding frame version for a
few hundred dollars more. This folding recumbent bike
will fold in half at the middle. Folded it should be
well under 36” long. The folding version may not be
available till sometime in the winter of 07-08.
We are still looking for a name for this sporty, fun
little bike.
